Course overview:

Excel remains one of the most powerful tools for accounting professionals, yet many users only scratch the surface of its capabilities.

During this in-person workshop, participants will engage in hands-on exercises to explore essential functions, advanced features, and real-world accounting applications, gaining the skills to work more efficiently, analyse data effectively, and produce accurate financial reports.

The workshop will be held at Learning Works Training Hub and is limited to 15 participants.

  • Efficient Excel navigation and shortcuts to save time
  • Formatting financial data, including accounting formats, custom formats, and conditional formatting
  • Essential formulas such as SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, AVERAGEIFS, text functions, DATE/EOMONTH, and IFERROR
  • How to manage data effectively using Excel tables, including sorting, filtering, and structured references
  • How to use PivotTables and PivotCharts for analysis (trial balances, expense analysis, and reconciliations)
  • How to perform advanced lookups using XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and INDEX-MATCH
  • How to utilise named ranges to create clearer formulas and reports
  • Explore Power Query for cleaning, transforming, and consolidating data
  • How to create quick dashboards and variance analysis tools
  • Apply Excel skills to practical accounting scenarios through hands-on exercises

Meet Your Instructor

Bernard Ellul is a qualified accountant who graduated with a Masters in Accountancy from the University of Malta in 2018. He began his career in the corporate advisory practice of a leading Maltese audit firm specialising in feasibility studies and valuations. Bernard is now part of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team at Betclic Group, focusing on developing sustainable budgets and forecasts for the Group’s operations across eight countries in Europe and Africa.
