Meet Janice Copperstone

Director at Trident Trust

Janice Copperstone is a Certified Public Accountant and currently serves as a Director at Trident Trust. Her career began with one of the Big Four firms in Malta, where she laid a strong foundation in accounting – an entry point that has since evolved into a leadership journey defined by strategic thinking, operational excellence, and client-focused service.

Since joining Trident Trust in 2015, Janice has taken on the role of Director within the Corporate & Fiduciary Services department. In this role, she oversees the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth management while upholding the organisation’s core values of loyalty, integrity, and professionalism. Together with the other Directors, she leads multiple internal teams, including the Corporate, Accounting, and Database departments, working collaboratively to maintain high standards of service and drive continuous improvement.

For Janice, a career in accounting offers the ideal mix of stability, versatility, and intellectual challenge. She values the consistent demand for accounting expertise across industries and enjoys the problem-solving element of the work – digging into data, drawing insights, and contributing to informed decision-making. ‘A career in accounting opens doors globally and offers the chance to specialise in various areas such as tax, for example,’ Janice notes.

In recent years, Janice has focused her efforts on corporate services and client accounting, a path that has proven both fulfilling and meaningful. ‘The most rewarding part of my role is receiving positive feedback from both clients and colleagues,’ she says. ‘It’s especially satisfying to see my team members grow and succeed—those moments make all the hard work worthwhile.’

Accounting can be demanding, particularly during busy periods, but Janice is proactive in maintaining balance. ‘Staying active helps me manage stress and stay sharp,’ she shares. She makes it a point to exercise in the mornings, ensuring she starts the day with a clear mind and the energy needed to tackle long hours if necessary.

Janice encourages aspiring accountants to push themselves beyond their comfort zones. ‘Always challenge yourself to be better and aim higher. Be proactive, embrace feedback, and use it as a tool for growth. Find what sets you apart and invest in developing those strengths’ she concludes.
