Aaron’s voyage into the world of accounting commenced during his formative years in secondary school, where his passion for numbers and finance began to crystallize. During his university education, Aaron gained practical experience at a big four firm and upon graduating, he seized an opportunity to join a mid-tier firm as a Senior Auditor. Over the span of a decade with this firm, Aaron progressed through various roles, ultimately attaining the position of Senior Manager within the Audit Department. This tenure provided him with invaluable exposure to a diverse array of local and international audit engagements.
With a desire to explore new horizons and broaden his professional repertoire, Aaron made a strategic transition to the field of accounting, assuming the role of Client Accounting Manager at Vistra. Over the past three and a half years, Aaron has made significant strides within the company, garnering two well-deserved promotions along the way. In his current role as Associate Director of Client Accounting, Aaron adeptly manages and coordinates the activities of the accounting team, ensuring meticulous adherence to established policies and procedures. His responsibilities extend to evaluating the accuracy and presentation of work, assigning tasks to team members, and driving timely completion of objectives. Additionally, Aaron plays a pivotal role in reviewing monthly management accounts, projections, budgets, and IFRS/GAPSME financial statements for a diverse portfolio of clients.
According to Aaron, working in client accounting provides an opportunity to directly assist clients in managing their finances and making informed decisions about their businesses. Unlike auditing, which is often mandated by regulations, client accounting is a service that clients actively seek out to gain insights into their financial performance, expenditure, investment opportunities, budgeting, and forecasting. Aaron explains that this aspect of client accounting makes it more engaging and fulfilling, as it provides the opportunity to collaborate closely with clients and help them achieve their financial goals.
