Job Description & Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accountant to join the Finance function, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. The role is responsible for ensuring robust financial control, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing insightful analysis to support business decision-making. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining compliance with statutory and group requirements, while actively contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
Responsibilities include:
• Maintain and strengthen financial controls, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all financial processes
• Prepare monthly management accounts and group reporting, including variance analysis and commentary
• Monitor expenditure against approved budgets, ensuring adherence to internal controls and highlighting risks or deviations
• Manage VAT and tax-related matters in line with Maltese legislation, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements
• Liaise with internal and external auditors, supporting audit processes and addressing findings as required
• Oversee the administration of invoicing and payment processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
• Analyse production cost variances and provide actionable insights to support operational performance
• Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets and rolling forecasts
Qualifications required
Applicants must have a tertiary level of education (University Degree in Accountancy or be ACCA qualified).
Experience required
Applicants must have relevant work experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate must:
• Have knowledge of Maltese taxation, particularly VAT
• Be able to analyse and interpret cost variances within a production setting
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with SAP ERP will be considered an asset
• Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
• Be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
