Job Description & Responsibilities

Jobsplus Permit No 123/2024

Responsibilities include:
• Ensure the proper disbursement of approved financial resources and monitor, evaluate and control financial transactions through accurate recording and reconciliation
• Deliver timely monthly forecasts and management accounts and annual financial statements
• Monitor departmental budgets
• Generate accurate statistical data and projections, analyse data and identify trends and recommend any remedial action required
• Manage the Agency’s external audits
• Keep abreast with accounting standards, financial legislation and government policies and implement accordingly, ensuring the Agency’s obligations are met
• Propose and implement any new processes and procedures as required
• Generate reports required by internally and by government entities
• Maintain the Agency’s asset register
• Advise the Head of Unit and/or CEO on all financial matters
• Perform any other duties according to the exigencies of the Agency

Qualifications required

Applicants must be in possession of an ACCA certification or be in possession of a recognised Masters qualification at MQF Level 7 (subject to a minimum of 90 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent) in Business Management / Economics / Banking and Finance / Accountancy or a recognised comparable professional qualification with five (5) years’ work experience.

Alternatively, applicants must be in possession of a recognised Bachelor’s qualification at MQF Level 6 (subject to a minimum of 180 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent) in Business Management / Economics / Banking and Finance / Accountancy or a recognised comparable professional qualification with eight (8) years’ work experience.

Experience required

Applicants must:
• Be fluent in written and spoken Maltese and English
• Be highly motivated and have effective problem solving and analytical skills
• Be meticulous, able to work on own initiative with excellent attention to detail
• Be a self-motivated, highly driven and proactive individual
• Be able to work as part of a team and have the ability to communicate effectively
