Job Description & Responsibilities
As the Head of Finance for Nium in Malta, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial stability and regulatory compliance of our operations in the country. You will lead all financial functions, implement financial strategies, and provide financial leadership to support our growth in line with MFSA guidelines.
The selected person will also be appointed as an executive director within the Board of Directors of Ixaris Financial Services Malta Limited.
Responsibilities include:
• Financial Strategy: develop and execute financial strategies aligned with Nium's objectives while ensuring compliance with MFSA regulations for company directors
• MFSA Compliance: stay current with MFSA regulations and guidelines, providing expert guidance to the board of directors on regulatory matters
• Financial Planning and Analysis: lead the financial planning and budgeting process, offering insights and recommendations to improve profitability and cost management
• Risk Management: identify and manage financial risks, establish risk mitigation strategies, and maintain a robust internal control framework
• Financial Reporting: prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including quarterly and annual reports, and present them to the board of directors, shareholders, and regulatory authorities
• Taxation: ensure compliance with tax regulations, minimize tax liabilities, and coordinate with external tax advisors when necessary
• Audit and Compliance: oversee external audits, ensure the effectiveness of internal controls, and maintain compliance with auditing standards and regulations
• Team Leadership: build and manage a high-performing finance team, including mentoring and developing staff to ensure the department's efficiency and effectiveness
• Strategic Partnerships: collaborate with external stakeholders, including financial institutions, regulators, and auditors, to maintain positive working relationships and ensure the financial stability of Nium in Malta
Qualifications required
Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (Master's or CPA preferred).
Experience required
Applicants must have proven experience in a senior financial management role within the financial services industry.
In addition, the ideal candidate must:
• Have in-depth knowledge of MFSA regulations, special focus on electronic money institutions and requirements for company directors
• Have strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills
• Have exceptional financial modeling and budgeting expertise
• Have excellent understanding of financial software and systems
• Have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Demonstrate high ethical and professional standards
