Job Description & Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be reporting to the Head of Accounts and will be responsible for:
• Providing a professional client accounting service, focused on the timely provision of relevant, complete and accurate accounting information to clients and company boards of directors
• Assisting with the development and use of in-house accounting systems to ensure they are used in the most efficient manner
• Making an effective contribution to the client accounting function, including assisting with development of the team
• Playing an active role in board meetings, presenting all financial, tax and treasury matters
• Handling all client accounting, regulatory, treasury and other company administration issues and ensuring that all agreed timetables and deadlines for financial, regulatory and Board reporting are met
• Liaising with the MFSA, lawyers, banks, investment advisers/managers, auditors, tax advisers and other professional advisers, and where appropriate: parent group external/internal auditors and lawyers
• Preparing management accounts and statutory financial statements, including input to and maintenance of the accounting records
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAPEE, GAPSME, IFRS,etc.);
• Preparing budgets, forecasts and any other financial reports that may be requested by the client from time to time
• Ensuring investment of client funds in accordance with Board instructions/strategy, including coordination of opening/closing of accounts, minimization of currency and credit risk exposures
• Preparing and filing relevant tax returns, as required (e.g. IPT, etc.) and liaising with parent group tax department where necessary
• Preparing and filing quarterly and annual insurance returns to the MFSA
• Maintaining accurate business plans
• Performing any other duties as reasonably requested
Qualifications required
Applicants must be fully qualified Accountants (CPA / ACCA).
Experience required
Applicants must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience in similar environments, such as audit firms, insurance companies, or risk management companies.
In addition, the ideal candidate must:
• Have knowledge of IFRS 17 (will be considered an asset)
• Be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail
• Be able to maintain high quality work in a changing environment
• Possess strong communication skills
• Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues across the globe
