Job Description & Responsibilities
A fast-growing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) based in Malta is seeking to expand its Finance team with the addition of a driven and detail-oriented Accounts Officer. This role is ideal for a finance professional who is currently employed and pursuing the ACCA qualification, looking to further develop their career within the fintech and payments space.
The Accounts Executive will be responsible for assisting with the daily accounting operations and supporting the Finance Manager in delivering accurate and timely financial reports. This position requires someone with a solid grounding in accounting principles and the ability to work in a regulated, fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts
• Perform day-to-day accounting duties, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance
• Support the preparation of tax and regulatory submissions in line with local requirements (MFSA, FIAU, etc)
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data
• Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Identify opportunities for improvements within financial processes
Qualifications required
Applicants must be actively studying for the ACCA qualification (preferably mid-level).
Experience required
Applicants must have 1–2 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
The ideal candidate must:
• Have experience in financial services, particularly within an EMI or fintech environment (will be considered an asset)
• Have good knowledge of accounting standards and local financial regulations
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)
• Have strong analytical and organizational skills
• Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Be able to balance work responsibilities alongside ACCA studies
