Job Description & Responsibilities
As an Accountant within the Accounting and Reporting function in Finance, you will be expected to prepare and maintain accounting information and assist in the preparation of the group’s financial statements and reports. You will also play a key role in communicating with relevant stakeholders within the organisation.
Responsibilities include:
• Handling the daily accounting functions, updating data and processing payments as required
• Preparing monthly management accounts and financial statements and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
• Performing reconciliations for the purpose of data analysis, accuracy and validity
• Preparing statutory reports to both local and foreign authorities
• Assisting senior team members and participating in ad-hoc finance projects
• Monitoring and implementing internal controls
• Contributing towards new initiatives that help improve internal processes
• Assisting auditors in performing their duties
• Carrying out any other tasks that may be assigned to you from time to time
Qualifications required
Applicants must be in possession of the ACCA and/or B. Accountancy (Hons) degree or be in the final stages of completing the ACCA qualification.
Experience required
Applicants must have 2 - 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
The ideal candidate must:
• Have excellent analytical acumen along with a strong ability with reading numbers and figures
• Have sound knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Have knowledge of Maltese tax and VAT legislation
• Be conversant with standard software packages and proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
• Be self-motivated with a determined approach to work
• Have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken English
• Be able to work both independently and within a team and possessing strong interpersonal skills
• Be able to work under pressure and meet expected company deadlines
• Be comfortable in a fast-paced and international environment
