Job Description & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
• Maintain accurate records: track and record all financial transactions including sales, expenses, payroll, and other financial activities
• Daily sales reports: reconcile daily sales and cash register receipts with bank deposits and POS (Point of Sale) system records
• Prepare financial statements: generate regular financial statements such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Monthly and annual reports: prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to provide insights into the financial status of the restaurant
• Budget preparation: assist in creating and managing the restaurant's budget, ensuring that spending aligns with financial goals
• Financial projections: develop financial forecasts based on historical data and market trends to aid in strategic planning
• Expense tracking: monitor and control costs by tracking inventory, labor, and other operational expenses
• Cost analysis: analyze cost data to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements
• Payroll processing: handle payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, and ensuring timely payment to employees
• Employee records: maintain accurate employee records, including timekeeping, attendance, and benefits administration
• Tax compliance: ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax
• Tax filing: prepare and file tax returns, and liaise with tax authorities as necessary
• Manage invoices: process incoming invoices from suppliers and ensure timely payments
• Customer billing: handle customer billing and manage accounts receivable, ensuring prompt collection of payments
• Implement controls: establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy
• Conduct audits: perform periodic internal audits to verify financial data and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Performance analysis: analyze financial performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations for improvement
• Strategic planning: participate in strategic planning sessions, providing financial data and analysis to support decision-making
• Inventory tracking: monitor inventory levels, ensuring accurate accounting for all inventory movements
• Inventory valuation: perform periodic inventory valuations and adjustments to reflect accurate financial records
• Liaise with management: communicate financial information and insights to restaurant management to aid in operational decision-making
• Coordination with external parties: work with external auditors, tax consultants, and financial advisors as needed
• Accounting software: utilize accounting software and POS systems to manage financial data efficiently
• System maintenance: ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data in all systems used by the restaurant
• Special projects: assist with special financial projects or analyses as required by management
• Continuous improvement: stay updated on industry trends and best practices in restaurant accounting to continually improve financial processes
• Purchasing: issue purchase orders and ensure compliance with organizational policies
Qualifications required
Applicants must be in possession of a University degree in Accounting / ACCA.
Experience required
Previous experience in the restaurant industry will be considered an asset.
