Job Description & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the Junior Accountant/s will be accountable to deliver best practice accounting and reporting for our function, including preparation and presentation of financial statements, preparation of VAT returns, and other regulatory filings. This role is a key engager across other functions, also supporting the Finance Director in delivering continuous improvement as the function evolves.
Core responsibilities:
• Booking journal entries to ensure all transactions are correctly recorded
• Assisting in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process
• Preparing monthly reconciliations and supporting schedules of our balance sheet accounts
• Delivering financial statements
• Preparing and filing VAT returns
• Assisting with the preparation of cash flow forecasts
• Assisting with on boarding and due diligence exercises from our corporate service providers
• Keeping up with financial regulations
• Effectively completing quarterly financial reviews and annual financial audits, including timely and accurate responses to information requests from internal and external auditors
• Continuously learning to be a backup for the Manager Accounting - Europe, including developing more leadership experience
• Effectively supporting, in partnership with your leader on all other projects and initiatives to ensure the Accounting and Financial Reporting team can successfully deliver on their objectives
Candidates wishing to work on a Full Time Reduced Hours will also be considered.
Qualifications required
Applicants must have or be in the process of obtaining an Accounting Degree or Qualification such as ACCA.
Experience required
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years working in an accounting position.
The ideal candidate must:
• Have experience in preparation and filing of VAT declarations
• Have working knowledge of local GAAP, IFRS and internal controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR)
• Have strong communication skills and excellent knowledge of English language
• Have knowledge of US GAAP, Oracle NetSuite and/or Blackline (would be considered an asset)
• Be solutions oriented, with a roll up your sleeves attitude to new opportunities and continuous improvements
• Be able to summarize and present financial data in an organized, concise manner
• Have teamwork skills – the ability to work as part of a team
• Be able to communicate well, actively listen, being responsible and honest
